CSRC Holds the 15th Meeting of International Advisory Council in Beijing

The CSRC's International Advisory Council (IAC) convened for its 15th meeting in Beijing between November 25th & 26th, 2018, to focus on the theme of "Capital Market Opening-up and Risk Mitigation in the Changing Environment". 15 IAC members, including IAC Chair Sir Howard Davies,Vice Chair Mrs. Laura M. Cha, and CSRC Chairman Liu Shiyu, Vice Chairman Fang Xinghai, were present at the meeting. Heads of CSRC departments and affiliated institutions also participated in the discussions.


Mr Guo Shuqing, Secretary of the Party Committee of People's Bank of China, Chairman of China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC), was invited to address the IAC on China's macro economic and financial situations as well as the work done and progress made in preventing and mitigating financial risks. The IAC members spoke highly of the remarkable achievements China has made to reform and open up China's economy in the past four decades, and to develop the capital markets, applauded President Xi Jinping's speeches made at the Boao Forum for Asia and at the opening ceremony of the China International Import Expo this year. They unanimously agreed that the decisive policies and measures for further opening-up by the Chinese government will inject strong impetus to build market-driven, law-based and internationalized capital markets in China. The meeting discussed the complexities and changes of global economic and financial climates, and the challenges and tasks in the course of opening up of China's capital markets. Members were also consulted in particular on their experience for developing and regulating private fund industry.


Established in June 2004 upon the approval of the State Council, the IAC serves as the think tank of the CSRC. Consisting of senior officials from overseas financial regulators, senior executives of financial institutions and renowned experts and academics, the IAC meets annually to provide continuous input into the CSRC's efforts in drawing experiences from international markets, intensifying international exchanges, and promoting the opening-up and steady development of China's capital markets.
