CSRC Holds the 14th IAC Meeting in Shanghai

The CSRC's International Advisory Council (IAC) convened for its 14th meeting in Shanghai on November 26th & 27th, 2017. During the meeting, Mr. Li Qiang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Shanghai Party Committee, met and exchanged views with the IAC members. The theme of this year's IAC meeting is "Reform and Development of Multi-tiered Capital Markets in an Open Environment." 13 IAC members, including IAC Chair Sir Howard Davies, Vice Chair Mrs. Laura M. Cha, and CSRC Chairman Liu Shiyu, Vice Chairman Jiang Yang, Vice Chairman Fang Xinghai, and Mr. Wu Qing, Chairman of Shanghai Stock Exchange, were present at the meeting. Heads of CSRC departments and relevant institutions also participated in the meeting.

This year's meeting was held one month after the successful convention of the 19th CPC National Congress. IAC members spoke highly of the strategic decisions and policies laid out by the 19th CPC National Congress. Discussions and exchanges focused on the topics including development of multi-tiered capital markets and protection of investors' rights and interests, further opening up of securities and futures markets and cross-border regulatory cooperation, development of global asset management industry and regulatory response, risk management tools at the micro level and the prevention and mitigation of major risks at the macro level.

Established in June 2004 with the approval of the State Council, the IAC serves as the think tank of the CSRC. Consisting of senior officials from overseas financial regulators, senior executives of financial institutions and renowned experts and academics, the IAC meets annually to provide continuous input into the CSRC's efforts in drawing experiences from international markets, intensifying international exchanges, and promoting the opening up and steady development of China's capital markets.
