15-09-2017

The China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) jointly organized a training program on "Managing and Monitoring the Markets" in Shenzhen on September 13 to 15, 2017. It is the first cooperative event held under the bilateral MOU between the CSRC and the IMF on mid to long-term technical assistance, which envisions various forms of cooperation on areas including supervision and development of capital markets, systemic risk prevention and stakeholder communications.

Experts from the IMF, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the US Commodities and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) and the Swiss Exchange (SIX) were invited to give lectures during the program. They shared insights and regulatory experiences through detailed case studies on approaches of managing and monitoring equity, fixed income and derivatives markets, cross-market monitoring, supervision of exchanges, and impact of algo trading and HFT on market surveillance.

The training program attracted around 200 regulatory personnel from different departments, regional offices and affiliated institutions of the CSRC. Representatives of the PBoC, CBRC and CIRC also attended. The event was organized in collaboration with China Capital Market Institute (CCMI).
