China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding technical assistance in the medium and long-term with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). On November 21, 2016, Mr. Liu Shiyu, Chairman of CSRC, held talks with Mr. David Lipton, First Deputy Managing Director of the IMF. Both sides exchanged the MOU documents after the meeting.
With an operative period of five years, the MOU envisions bilateral cooperation centered on supervision and development of capital markets, systemic risk prevention, stakeholder communications, etc. Both sides agree that signing the MOU is conducive to facilitating communications and experience sharing in key areas including capital market reform and development, enhancing personnel exchange and training, as well as promoting healthy and steady development of China’s capital markets and continual improvement in the regulatory framework.
